Thanks for the update, Derek. How disappointing that Hearthware does not appear to be committed to this product. I really like my iRoast2 - I wish the manufacturer liked it.

Anyway, thanks to Sweet Maria's for your ongoing commitment to your customers in keeping us updated and offering us alternatives. SM rocks!

Derek,

In you opinion, what is the best home air roaster on the market excluding the I-Roast 2. I was told by Hearthware today that it would not be available until next year. Also, what do you consider the best home roaster period, air or otherwise.

.. the _best_ air roaster? and not one that is available in 2011? :
... Well, that would probably be the FreshRoast SR500 which we will say with some reservations. In fact, all of the machines have their quirks and at least one novel feature so a clear comparison can not easily be made. It certainly seems like the price-point and design of the SR500 is in direct competition with the Iroast2 and frankly they picked a good time as far as competing with Iroast goes :?

The main option I have been telling folks is the FreshRoast SR500 and then, on a different tip, the drum roasters like the Gene and Behmor should be considered too... I usually tell people that a hot air popcorn popper wouldn't be a bad stopgap option either.

Here's Maria's roaster comparison chart if you haven't seen:
http://www.sweetmarias.com/roastercomparisonchart.php

I located a UK retailer who has the Iroast chamber in stock. It is twice as much as it should be so please contact us at info @ sweetmarias.com for more info... I hesitate to post a link because it's just so expensive but if anyone is dying to get an Iroast roast chamber, drop us a line, we've found you a temporary source during all of this trouble.

p.s. July 6: there are a few rumors swirling of the Iroast's demise and that the machine has been discontinued but from what we understand these are exaggerations. Hearthware says the machine/parts will be restocked.

The current ETA from Hearthware for the Iroast2's return is late 2010/early 2011

I'm a little unclear on what is being said here - is "late 2010/early 2011" the ETA from June/Summer 2010, or from early September 2010? Or is early September 2010 itself an ETA, and "late 2010/early 2011" was the previous ETA?

The waiting is killing me...

Hello iroast-ers,

I am looking for the center bean distributor that screws into the middle of the iroast pot. Mine finally detached and now my trusty iroast is useless! I can't find anyone selling the pots......so I thought I would post something here and see if anyine had on old broken machine who would sell me the part i need.

Thanks!

I'm trying to get ahold of a pot/chaff collector myself. If I manage to do so, I think the bean distributor from my broken pot will probably be salvageable.

This is really a pathetic operation. When you call and talk to someone who cares at Hearthware, they never know what is going on with the IRoast, and think you are calling about their nuwave oven or some other telemarketing product they are selling.

My iroast2 is still working, and I have an old iRoast-1 as my backup. I was lucky enough to buy an extra chaff collector assembly and a bunch of screen lids before they went off the deep end. Good thing because the original chaff collector base broke, and the screens eventually block up beyond what a dishwasher will clean and have to be replaced.

Last message a week ago is that arrival is pushed into "sometime in 2011." That's just completely unacceptable how long this has been out of stock and parts, with repeated delays. The problem is now trying to figure out which new model to switch to. I can't justify the mega-expensive Hottop, and since I don't need beyond City+, probably the Behmor is the next step up.

It is kind of amazing how few quality roasters there are for less than $400-500 that would work for a 1-2 person household.
