Behmor Service and Fix

Postby l52williams » Tue Apr 17, 2012 9:05 am

I purchased my new Behmor in Feb from SM. I struggled thru several roasts without success. Most being under roasted. I contacted Behmor service and reported my results. The tech determined that two thermisters may be defective and immediately sent two replacement parts with detailed instructions for the repair. I installed the parts and roasted two batches to perfection. I must also say, that, along with the replacement parts, they sent some complementary green beans, and great roasting hints. THANK YOU.

Roasted 1 lb of green from Kenya this morning. Used 1 lb P2 B settings. Started with 2 min preheat and a restart with my settings. !st crack was very slight at about 2 min. Added 2 min and went until smoke appeared. Hit the cool. Beans were nicely roasted to C+.

I have roasted for 4 years using the IR2 and been been very happy with it's performance. All have been done using preset 2 program. I tried to program profiles, but gave up.

The Behmor is a challenge since I have only used visual control with the IR2. Now I must use visual and smell to gauge the roasts. No roasting logs here.

Learning a lot about the Behmor. Had a number of batches early on that were under roasted because of the sensor issue. I have found that it is easy to re-roast to achieve C+ to Full City.
