So I received my Sumatra Pak Lintong Joner today and am not sure what to think. Am using an Air Crazy and have been really happy so far but now it is 32 degrees in the garage and am having a little difficulty. So have put the popper down in something to recirculate the airflow a little and that has helped. First crack is hard to hear but there and I stopped it just before 2nd. Looks much better that the uneven roast I got on the first batch with the unprotected popper. Anyone else tried this bean yet?

I just placed my order today so I will let you know.
Hottop, Barratza Virtuoso, whatever brew method I am in the mood for.

I am unable to obtain a drinkable roast from these beans. I tried city+ to full city and dumped them all. It is strange that I have not had these problems before.

What did you find undrinkable about these beans? I got a lb of these in the sampler pack i ordered. I roasted them to what i believe was FC/FC+ and while they were my least favorite of the bunch, they weren't terrible.

All I can say is they taste like dirt. I will try roasting the remainer a little slower and see what happens. For the record I love sumatras and I currently have some sumatra blue batak that roast nicely and yield some excellent results.

I am sure this is a very good coffee, just not able to find the sweet spot. Maybe it is a little bit touchy. Anyone have a profile for it ?

I too find this coffee to be mediocre at it's very best, the Onan Ganjang was soo much better.

I never liked Sumatras when I was using a popper. They all tasted "dirty" and sweetness was lacking. I just roasted this Lintong with a Behmor and it was dramatically better: "dirty" is now a sweet pipe tobacco quality. Sweetness is much more developed, while there's enough brightness to keep it interesting. The "grape" in the SM description I read as blueberry in the wet aroma, faintly reminiscent of DP Ethiopians. I roasted 1/3 lb on the 1/2 pound setting to FC (dark but still mottled, no oil) on P3.

Now I'm curious. I happen to have a pound of Sumatra Pak Lintong Joner from my last order. I'll roast up a half pound today and report back.
